Filling

Which types of beverages can go into a UniKeg?

Any carbonated or non-carbonated beverage can be filled into a UniKeg. Forced carbonation is not recommended, however under the right conditions, secondary fermentation in the UniKeg is possible. Careful monitoring of the CO2 content is very important in this case. Please contact us for more information on measuring the CO2 content in a UniKeg.

How long do beverages stay fresh once UniKeg is tapped?

Any carbonated or non-carbonated beverage can be filled into a UniKeg. Forced carbonation is not recommended, however under the right conditions, secondary fermentation in the UniKeg is possible. Careful monitoring of the CO2 content is very important in this case. Please contact us for more information on measuring the CO2 content in a UniKeg.

Can a UniKeg be filled on an existing automated filling line for steel kegs?

On most filling lines this is possible with a few minor adjustments to the filling cycle. Please contact us for more information on automated filling.

Is fermentation possible in the UniKeg?

Yes it is, but closely monitor CO2 levels which, should never exceed 7.1 g/l (3.5 Vol CO2). Please contact us for more information.

Can I fill manually?

Yes, UniKegs can be filled manually with ease. Please watch this video where we explain how to fill a UniKeg manually. If you still have questions, you can call your account manager or contact us through email any time.

Manual filling: should I vent a UniKeg and/or flush it before filling?

In order to minimize oxygen uptake, we strongly recommend that you flush the UniKeg with CO2 or N2 prior to filling. Flushing needs to be done for 30 – 45 seconds. You can also see how this works in the filling instruction video.
